More about River Valley Church of Christ

River Valley Church of Christ is a part of a worldwide fellowship of people whose intention is to be just Christian - nothing more and nothing less. We acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and recognize Him as the head of the Church.

Our Position is quite simple. We accept the Bible as the inspired record of God's revelation to man. We believe that the New Testament is the only Divine rule of faith and practice given to the followers of Christ, and that it contains the pattern for both the church and the individual to follow.

Therefore, we insist only on those matters which the New Testament sets forth as requirements for membership in Christ's Church. These are faith in Christ as the Son of God and Savior, repentance from sin, baptism by immersion in the name of Christ for the remission of sin, and to receive the Holy Spirit. In baptism, we see pictured the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (Romans 6:3-5). We must continue to faithfully live out this commitment unto death.

Our Worship, like that of the original church, centers around the preaching of the Apostles' Doctrine, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer. In the breaking of bread, the Lord's Supper or Communion, we remember the death of Christ for all mankind, and as we partake each week we proclaim to the world our faith in His ultimate return to glory. We enjoy raising joyful praises unto the Lord in song and employ the use of traditional and modern musical instruments to aid us. An organ, piano and keyboard are regularly used to support the song service.

Our Objective is to reaffirm New Testament Christianity in all of it's fullness - in faith, in love, in service, and in spirit. We are most anxious to join hands with all who are of like mind. We pray these objectives coincide with your thinking and that you will worship with us again.
